A Study on the River Pollution by Alkl Benzene Sulfonte in Seoul Area

Abstract
|
|
|
A study was carried out to determine the concentration of A.B.S (Alkyl Benzene Sulfonate) in the sewage of Seoul area from July to October, 1973. A.B.S was abstracted by methylene blue method from the samples collected at the 23 points of the Chungge branches, 13 points Ukcheon branches, 14 points stream sewages and 5 points of water plants of Jan River.
The Results are summarized as follows:
1. The mean concentration of A.B.S. i nChungge stream was 2.5 ppm and inflow stream of the Han River was 2.9 ppm and Ukcheon was 3.3 ppm.
2. The highest concentration of A.B.S. inflow Bongwon stream, while the lowest 1.1 ppm at Hannam.
3. The concentration of A.B.S. in the sample water from the Han River water plants were found to be 0.02ppm at Goo I Water point and 0.18 ppm at Yeong Deung Po Water point respectively, which indicate the low contamination level as compared with the results given above.
